WHY ?

Future.Life.Places. and the ArtGeneration initiative –
Art of living in the European Union
Sea

These European Art of Living locations offer an impressive mix of breathtaking beaches, rich nature and fascinating cultural sights. Not only tourists, but also potential newcomers will find ideal conditions here. Thanks to excellent connections via various means of transport such as trains, ferries and planes, these regions are easy to reach and are becoming increasingly popular with travellers from all over Europe. The island of Sicily in the Mediterranean, central Spain and Germany with its inland lakes and rivers impress with majestic mountains, green valleys and vast landscapes that invite you to explore and discover.
We are stardust, we are golden
We are billion-year-old carbon
And we've got to get ourselves
Back to the garden

These song lyrics from ‘Woodstock’ - by Joni Mitchell - describe the emotions of the first pop culture generation and are so well suited to the longings of later generations.
In Europe, there are interesting opportunities for realising this in the European Community's ‘Art of Living Places’: from the breathtaking island of Sicily, including the region of Trapani with the art settlement Gibellina Nuova, to the centre of Spain, the almost untouched Extremadura, to the enchanting old cultural landscapes of Germany - places are being created here where the future and quality of life go hand in hand.

ArtGeneration: Creative perspectives for a sustainable future
The ArtGeneration initiative presents innovative concepts for a modern, environmentally friendly future in conjunction with the Future.Life.Places. Art of living regions. As model projects for networked living, working and mobility, they focus on international health tourism, green care agrotourism offers and workation, ‘castle sharing’ with friends as well as culture for health and fitness and hiking activities.
The ArtGeneration concepts offer interesting alternatives in the areas of working, living and tourism for the 50-plus age group and younger. They are based on creative, ecological and altruistic themes, combine the ‘Spirit of the 60s & 70s’ with a traditional philosophy of life and create a unique connection between retro design and modern approaches.
ArtGeneration's activities are aimed at people who value a self-determined life and work. In particular, people from metropolitan areas and large cities in Germany, the EU countries, Norway, England, Switzerland and the USA, Canada, Japan and Australia are addressed. The projects open up living, working and vacation opportunities for retirees, expatriates, freelancers and start-ups in various areas.
The connection between the Future.Life.Places. regions Art of living and the ArtGeneration initiative creates a unique synergy that combines natural beauty, cultural heritage and a healthy lifestyle. These innovative model projects could serve as an example of a sustainable future not only for the region, but also worldwide.
