WHY ?

Future.Life.Places. and the ArtGeneration initiative –
Islands of life in the European Union

These European islands of life offer an impressive mix of breathtaking beaches, rich nature and fascinating cultural attractions. Not only tourists, but also potential new settlers find ideal conditions here. Thanks to excellent connections via various means of transport such as ferries and planes, these regions are easy to reach and are very popular with travelers across Europe. The islands in the Aegean, the Mediterranean and the Atlantic impress with majestic mountains, picturesque coastlines and green valleys that invite you to explore and discover.
* (blessed or happy islands, from the Greek μάκαρ mákar for blessed/blissful and νῆσος nḗsos for island) refers in biogeography to the region of island groups of volcanic origin located in the eastern central Atlantic. Despite the great distances, there are similarities between the individual islands in terms of their flora and fauna.)
We are stardust, we are golden
We are billion-year-old carbon
And we've got to get ourselves
Back to the garden

These lyrics from “Woodstock” - by Joni Mitchell - described the emotions of the first generation of pop culture and so capture the longings of later generations.
In Europe, there are interesting implementation opportunities for this on the new "islands of life" of the European Community: from the breathtaking Macaronesian* Islands, including the Canary Islands, Madeira and the Azores, from Corsica and Sardinia to the magical Mama Mia islands of Evia and the Sporades as well as Crete in the Aegean Sea - these are the places where the future and quality of life go hand in hand.
For tourists and new residents of the ArtGeneration projects, there are a variety of opportunities to explore these fascinating island landscapes. Ancient ruins, traditional villages and UNESCO World Heritage sites offer a fascinating journey through the centuries. The hospitable locals, local cuisine and lively markets contribute to an unforgettable travel experience.
Another incentive for tourists and new settlers is the cost-effective side of these destinations compared to established European destinations. The untouched nature, the fresh sea air and the clear waters make the islands a relaxing and health-promoting travel and lifestyle destination.
