EUROPEAN COOPERATIVES

ArtGeneration European Cooperatives (SCE) against mass tourism
The ArtGeneration Initiative for European Cooperatives (SCE) has launched a groundbreaking initiative to address the growing problem of mass tourism in some of Europe's most popular holiday regions. Through an innovative approach to repurposing and expanding existing land and agricultural properties on various EU islands and parts of Spain and Portugal, the initiative focuses on the creation of sustainable development cooperatives and local integration.

The main objectives of this initiative include:
1. Apartments for locals and cooperative members: By offering accommodation that is exclusively reserved for locals and cooperative members, social cohesion is strengthened and tourist travel is slowed down.
2. Work apartments and start-ups for digital nomads: In order to increase the attractiveness for digital workers, special apartments are being created that are ideal for work stays and the founding of start-ups.
3. Temporary housing for sustainable tourism: Cooperatives offer holidaymakers temporary accommodation that is only accessible to members. This promotes sustainable tourism based on local integration and resource conservation.
4. Promote self-sufficiency and traditional agriculture: Creating self-sufficiency gardens and preserving old breeds of domestic animals not only strengthens local agriculture, but also creates therapeutic offerings that benefit residents and visitors.
5. Sustainability in construction and energy supply: The use of ecological materials, a sustainable energy supply and efficient water management are central aspects of all cooperative construction projects.
6. Promoting sustainable mobility and telemedicine: Promoting sustainable mobility concepts and access to telemedicine services are further focuses of the initiative in order to improve the quality of life in communities and reduce dependence on mass tourism.
7. Build IT infrastructure: Providing a modern IT infrastructure is crucial for digital networking and creating new opportunities in education, work and communication.

The ArtGeneration “European Cooperatives” initiative is convinced that this holistic and sustainable approach can curb mass tourism and sustainably improve the quality of life in the affected regions. Interested communities and partners are warmly invited to participate in this groundbreaking initiative.
The European Cooperative: Societas Cooperativa Europaea (SCE)
Nature and purpose
The SCE is designed as a legal form of cooperative law. It has legal personality and the share capital is divided into shares. The registered office of an SCE as specified in the statutes must be in a member state of the EC or EEA.
The SCE forms the counterpart at the European level to the national cooperative legal forms in the member states.
The purpose of the SCE is therefore the same as that of any other cooperative: it consists primarily in promoting member activities and member needs.
founding
An SCE can be founded by at least five legal or natural persons who have their place of residence in two different EEA member states. Likewise, an existing cooperative can be converted into an SCE if it has already had a branch in an EEA member state for at least two years. The third option is to found one by merging several cooperatives from different member countries.
The company must be preceded or followed by the addition “SCE”. It may contain the addition “with limited liability”.
It requires founding capital of at least 30,000 euros. Investing members are permitted, shares are transferable or sellable.
